Paulina Fuenzalida-Guzmán - Textile Artist
Paulina is a multi-talented individual whose diverse interior design and journalism background has led her to pursue a career in fiber art. Born in Santiago, Chile, she moved to New Bedford, Massachusetts, in 2018 with her family to pursue an MFA in Fibers at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
Paulina's earlier work focused on human rights violations during the collapse of democracy in Chile. Her current body of work reflects her interest in exploring the concept of identity and how both personal experiences and external circumstances shape it.
In recognition of her outstanding achievements, Paulina was awarded the Surface Design Association's Outstanding Student Award in 2019, a prestigious honor recognizing excellence in Fiber graduate and undergraduate students.
Paulina is leading a collaborative textile project and organizing a travel exhibition with the minority Latino artists and New Bedford, Massachusetts, USA community. Her commitment to showcasing underrepresented voices and promoting diversity in the arts is a testament to her creative vision and dedication to social justice.
